I have many faults and through time, I have managed to convince people otherwise.
Personally, I believe that my morning-waking-up is fairly consistent. Unlike most people, I don’t oversleep nor do I wake up later than I normally wake up. The problem is, I consistently wake up at 10am regardless if it’s a weekend or a weekday or what time I sleep. I’ve tried sleeping before 12am (once in the past 6 months) and have still ended up waking at 10am.
Please note, this only applies when I sleep in an air-conditioned room. Under abnormal circumstances, my wake up time does get disrupted.
I have been trying hard to improve my up time; ranging from mental practices to getting my mom to wake me up. The latter was a failed attempt as one time, she woke up late and subsequently, so did I.
The Accused
I partly blame my alarm clock! I have had it since high school and I suspect that I have gotten so used to its sound that I have developed immunity to it. I don’t hear it and I swear I don’t ever remember it going off.
It has a buzz and radio mode where it turns on a radio station while the alarm goes off. After days of brainstorming, I came up with quite a brilliant solution.
I decided to switch the radio frequency to pick up a radio station that I’d rather die than listen to. (I wish to not name this radio station)
But apparently, I did die because I don’t recall hearing anything the next morning.
The Conspirator
I don’t know whether to name my phone or Windows Mobile 6 as my alarm clock’s partner-in-crime.
For the record, WM is shitty and totally unreliable as an alarm clock either as a primary or secondary. When I had my Mini-XDAII O2, I had the same problem of trying to wake up to sounds that are not nearly enough to irritating.
An alarm sound has to be irritating. It has to be so annoying that will make anyone wake up. It has to sound like Fran Drescher or look like Khairy Jamaluddin. WM’s alarm sounds are actually tolerable. To me, that is.
So I guess I’m saying it’s Windows Mobile that sucks. No blame attached to my trusty HTC Touch-Dual. Although my iPhone and Nokia N80 successfully woke me up on a few occasions.
Maybe I’m being biased, but I hate anything that has to do with Microsoft, which is why I foresee myself getting an iPhone again next year (if I get to go to NY *fingers crossed*).
The Messiah-to-be
Being fed-up of failing one of my new year resolution, I have decided to enlist new help. I have decided to get a new alarm clock!
I believe this green baby will be the solution to my problem. That this beautiful piece of clockwork will do what my 2 nin-com-poops have failed to do for all these years.
I know for a fact that this clock is a fighter. Barely 30 minutes after I bought it, my mom dropped it and broke its glass front and yet, it still ticks to precision.
But we will soon find out if this clock is indeed my Messiah. Nevertheless, should it fail, I’ll have another inanimate object to blame as I would an actual person.

I wake up without fail at 8am every single day. And without fail, I will hit the snooze button over & over. So I officially get up at 9am.
Once I tried to do without the alarm. I got up at 9am. So I don’t know why I even bother setting the alarm at 8 or setting it at all. Creature of habit I suppose…
