I’ve never driven in KL before this so I asked the guy who rented me the car on how do I get to the highway from my current location at Chow Kit. He told me bla bla bla then once I get to the federal highway just follow the Ipoh signboards.
I got into the car and found the federal highway without any fuss. I carefully remembered his last piece of instruction ‘Just follow the signboards that say Ipoh’. What I was to experience next was mind boggling.
I spotted Ipoh on the extreme right hand lane so I stayed on that lane which common sense says is the fast lane. So I’m going 80kmph on the extreme right and the road bends. As the bend straightens out, I’m shocked to see my exit suddenly on the extreme left not more than 300m away.
Not wanting to miss my exit and possibly get lost, I swerve, narrowly missing traffic. What made it worse was that I was still at least doing 50kmph and the exit was a narrow one lane. I had to cut another car before screeching to a stop. KL roads are weird!
